Dear Raj,

I was sorry we crossed paths last week; you were at Stanford while I was
at CMU. You may recall that we met a couple years ago when I visited
Carnegie before. At that time I was working on an automatic programming
system with Cordell Green.
At present, I'm interested in the more general question of scientific discovery
-- understanding it and emulating it.

As Vic and Lee will tell you, the particular computer program I've written
to experimentally develop some of my ideas faces several of the same issues that
Hearsay II does.
I believe I mentioned this similarity in my talk; if you have time, I encourage
you to see the videotape.

Since I'll be coming  to CMU as an assistant professor,
I think we should try to get to know each other better before September.
My wife and I will be stopping in Pittsburgh at the end of May or
early in June. I hope that we can get together then.
